THE SEARCH - a one person rock musical by jess mcavoy

The Search is a one person rock musical that ran at the Tank Theater in New York in September 2023 and at the Butterfly Club in Melbourne for Midsumma festival in January 2024.

Plans for another run are in the works for late 2024.

Pulled from the transformations of their own life as a trans, immigrant artist, McAvoy weaves a musical homage to the shifting selves in each of us and our quest for authentic self expression. The Search- performed solo by McAvoy themself- is a contagiously vulnerable, genre-bending performance that asks the questions: Who do you think you are? And, what do you want to become?
